End of train device

All modern trains operating in Australia carry a End of train device, on the rear of the last wagon.

Fortunately, Ring Engineering in the USA, produce a scale model of  'end of train devices'. These operate on both DC and DCC powered tracks, come with short and long wiring, and 33" and 36" wheel sets. Nothing difficult in fitting. Just replace the coupler with the one having the device attached, then change the bogie. The electronics just swing out the way when one of the wheel sets is removed from the bogie, screw in, then swing back, putting the axle back in position.

I attached a yellow device to a SCT PHBY van. This unit only comes with 33" wheels, against 36" prototype, but as the Ring bogie did not fit onto the Railmotor bogie mount, the smaller wheels resulted in the wagon coming out level. The video shows the device in operation, as fitted.
